En la mayoría de los casos se trata de los 20 favoritos según sus valoraciones. Sin embargo, Radoslaw Wojtaszek ha sido eliminado por el noruego Johan-Sebastian Christiansen. Por otra parte, Yu Yangyi, Hikaru Nakamura y Dmitry Andreikin todavía tienen que disputar un duelo de desempate contra sus respectivos opoentes para clasificarse para la próxima ronda eliminatoria.
