27/01/2002 – El GM ruso Evgeny Bareev con 9/13 se ha impuesto en la edición número 64 de este prestigioso torneo. Su rendimiento alcanzó los 2831 puntos. A pesar de la embarazosa derrota que sufrió en la ronda 11 contra Khalifman, en la que perdió en 19 movimientos, sacó medio punto a su inmediato seguidor Grischuk.
