Pero ese no es el caso de Garry Kasparov, que ha aceptado tomar parte en el Campeonato de Europa de Clubes (que se va a celebrar en Creta entre el 28 de septiembre y el 4 de octubre) defendiendo los colores del equipo ruso Ladia-Kazan-1000. Además, jugará un encuentro contra el Campeón de Europa, Zurab Azmaiparashvili, a cuatro partidas rápidas y otras 4 blitz, entre los días 22 y 25 de septiembre, para ir aclimatándose.
