Dubai Police Global Challenge Masters

Con 40 jugadores, la India tiene con diferencia el mayor contingente del Dubai Police Global Challengers Masters, que destaca tanto por su cantidad como por su calidad. Uzbekistán (14 jugadores) y Kazajstán (11 jugadores) le siguen a distancia. Además del Masters, también se organizarán un A-Open y un torneo abierto juvenil, con un total de 600 participantes. Un gran número de jugadores de la India participan también en los demás torneos del certamen, en total más de 100.
Después de las tres rondas disputadas, tres grandes maestros indios forman parte del grupo de aquellos cuatro jugadores que han ganado todas las partidas disputadas hasta ahora.
Aravindh, con 2670 el segundo mejor gran maestro indio en la clasificación inicial, por detrás de Narayanan (2695), es el líder del cuarteto de favoritos gracias a la mejor valoración de desempate. En la tercera ronda se enfrentó a Jagadeesh Siddarth, de Singapur. Aravindh eligió la defensa Pirc, que también es popular entre los jugadores de primera fila cuando quieren jugar para ganar con un poco de riesgo. Sin embargo, Aravindh se encontró en una posición un poco incómoda, con desventaja de espacio, y ofreció tablas repitiendo la posición. Siddarth se negó, pero poco después se colocó en una posición muy desfavorable.

Comenzó en Dubai con un bye (se sentó en una ronda con 1/2 punto) y luego sumó 1,5 puntos contra dos MI menos fuertes de Irán. Con sus dos puntos, Ju Wenjun ocupa actualmente el puesto 32º.
Vassily Ivanchuk, que viajó recientemente a las Islas Baleares, igualmente figura entre los participantes. Con una victoria y dos tablas, también tiene dos puntos, al igual que Yu Yangyi, que lidera la clasificación inicial con su rating de más de 2700.

Participan un total de 135 participantes de 28 países llegaron al emirato más poblado de los EAU. Yu Yangyi, Amin Tabatabaei y Vladislav Artemiev, con una puntuación igual o superior a 2700, encabezan la clasificación. Les siguen de cerca 20 jugadores con clasificaciones entre 2600 y 2700.
