El torneo se disputa a 11 rondas bajo el sistema suizo. Más de 150 jugadoras de 32 federaciones europeas se han inscrito para participar. La 25.ª edición del Campeonato Europeo Femenino de Ajedrez se está jugando del 25 de mayo al 5 de junio en la ciudad georgiana de Batumi. El torneo se disputa en el Euphoria Convention & Casino Hotel. Más de 150 jugadoras de 32 federaciones europeas se han inscrito para participar. Diez jugadoras tienen un Elo superior a 2400.
El torneo se disputa a 11 rondas por sistema suizo, con un control de tiempo de 90 minutos para las primeras 40 jugadas más 30 minutos para el resto de la partida. Se añade un incremento de 30 segundos desde la primera jugada. En caso de empate a puntos, el primer criterio de desempate será el enfrentamiento directo, seguido de las puntuaciones Buchholz 1 y 2, el número de partidas jugadas con negras y, finalmente, el mayor número de victorias.
Se otorgarán plazas de clasificación para la Copa del Mundo Femenina. La bolsa total de premios, de €60.000, premiará a las 20 primeras clasificadas. Los tres primeros puestos tendrán premios de €10.000, €8.000 y €7.000.
Las rondas comienzan diariamente a las 13:00 hora de Madrid, excepto la última ronda, que empezará dos horas antes de lo habitual. El domingo 31 de mayo será el único día de descanso del torneo.

21/05/2026 – David Navara y Joanna Worek ganaron los Campeonatos Checos de Ajedrez de 2026. Navara, de 41 años, consiguió así su decimocuarto título, mientras que la joven promesa Vaclav Finek, 25 años menor que él, terminó en segundo lugar. 18/05/2026 – Azkoitia acogerá el 14 de junio un nuevo festival Sustapena, impulsado por Anaitasuna-Kakute Xake Taldea y Gros Xake Taldea, con el objetivo de ofrecer competición a jóvenes ajedrecistas de Euskadi y Navarra.
