29/03/2003 – Acaba de celebrarse el IV Torneo de Ajedrez por Internet que lleva el nombre de la ciudad y que ha sido ganado por el GM ruso Vladimir Potkin. Y entre el 28 de marzo y el 5 de abril, 9 torneos diferentes harán que el centro de gravedad mundial del ajedrez se mantenga en la ciudad sevillana. En el torneo principal, que alcanza la categoría XVI, la nómina es impresionante: Shirov, Vallejo, Illescas, Khalifman, Karjakin, Dreev, Tiviakov, Rustemov, Campora, Epishin...
