04/07/2018 – Entre el 16 y el 20 de agosto se celebrará el 8º Festival Internacional de Ajedrez Juvenil en Gibraltar. La sede será el Hotel Caleta y seguirá el patrón de éxito del Festival de Ajedrez Tradewise, que ofrece la posibilidad de combinar ajedrez con ocio, encuentros sociales y turismo. Una tradición peninsular
Gibraltar ya se ha convertido en una de las capitales del ajedrez mundial. El abierto que organiza con el auspicio de Tradewise a principios de año atrae a muchos de los mejores jugadores del mundo, algo muy poco común en torneos abiertos. La organización del torneo en sí y de las actividades paralelas cumple los más altos estándares de calidad. Todos los que participan en el torneo quedan contentos.
Pero el equipo de promoción del ajedrez en Gibraltar no se ha quedado con los brazos cruzados después de conseguir este logro. Evidentemente, es un grupo que también está interesado en incentivar a los más pequeños, por lo que este año está presentando ya la octava edición del Festival Juvenil de Gibraltar.
El torneo será válido para el ranking de la FIDE y se jugará en dos categorías: sub-12 y sub-16. El control de tiempo será de 1 hora y 50 minutos para toda la partida con 10 segundos de incremento por cada movimiento. Los ganadores se definirán tras seis rondas de emparejamientos realizados bajo el sistema suizo. El Elo FIDE máximo aceptado es de 2300 puntos.
El torneo es solo uno de los elementos de la experiencia, sin embargo. El programa social incluye una recepción, clases magistrales, un torneo de blitz, exhibiciones de simultáneas, excursiones y una cena de gala. Los cupos son limitados, por lo que vale la pena entrar a recabar más información del sitio web oficial.
