02/08/2016 – Organizado por la Federación Uruguaya de Ajedrez, terminó y se clausuró el
domingo 31 de julio el XXVII Festival Panamericano de Ajedrez de la Juventud con
la fiesta de clausura, con una actuación de magia, tras la que se entregaron los
galardones, en presencia de las autoridades: Enrique Celi, Jorge Vega, Darcy
Lima, Bernardo Roselli y Alan Herbert. Fueron ocho días de intensa competición y
convivencia, que conformaron toda una inolvidable experiencia vital.

XXVII Festival Panamericano de Ajedrez de la Juventud
Además de las competiciones por tramos de edad absolutas y femeninas, hubo un Congreso Panamericano de Ajedrez Escolar y un abierto panamericano relámpago.
Los días 26 y 27 de julio se celebró un Congreso Panamericano de Ajedrez Escolar. Muchos temas se abordaron en las jornadas apretadas de ponencias, que abarcaron temas como matemática y ajedrez, jóvenes en situación de vulnerabilidad social y ajedrez, problemáticas de género vinculadas a la enseñanza del ajedrez, discapacidad y ajedrez... El profesor Esteban Jaureguízar, vicepresidente de la Federación Uruguaya de Ajedrez y coordinador del programa Ajedrez para la Convivencia del Ministerio de Educación y Cultura, resume las jornadas en el siguiente vídeo.
En el abierto blitz, El GM chileno Rodrigo Vásquez terminó en primer lugar, por delante del argentino Nahuel Díaz y del uruguayo José Riverol.
