Fidel Corrales ganó el XVI Memorial Guillermito García
10/06/2009 – El GM cubano Fidel Corrales, de 21 años, Elo 2574, ganó el XVI Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez "Guillermito García in Memóriam". En la última ronda venció al GM Neuris Delgado (2572) en 40 movimientos de una Defensa Siciliana. El lugar del encuentro fue el Salón ECO en Santa Clara (Cuba) En total, Corrales sumó 6 puntos (cuatro victorias y cuatro empates). El segundo lugar lo ocupó el GM peruano Emilio Córdova (Elo 2543) y a continuación se ubicaron Holden Hernández 4,5/8; Lázaro Bruzón 4,5; Neuris Delgado 4; Yuniesky Quezada 3,5; Real 3,5; Rodney 2,5 y Rasmusen con 2,5 puntos. Alder Escobar se retiró tras tres derrotas consecutivas en las primeras tres rondas.
