El Campeonato Mundial de Ajedrez Freestyle Chess 2026 se celebra del 13 al 15 de febrero en el resort Weissenhaus, en Alemania. Es el primer campeonato mundial bajo esta denominación y el tercer Campeonato Mundial oficial de Ajedrez960 organizado por la FIDE.
Viernes 13 de febrero: El torneo comienza con una fase de todos contra todos a ritmo rápido, siguiendo el formato utilizado en los eventos del Grand Slam de Ajedrez Freestyle. Los ocho participantes se enfrentan una vez entre sí con un control de tiempo de 10 minutos más 5 segundos de incremento. Los cuatro mejores avanzan a las semifinales, mientras que los demás disputan matches por las posiciones restantes.
Sábado 14 de febrero: La fase eliminatoria arranca con las semifinales y los matches por las posiciones restantes, con un control de tiempo de 25 minutos más 10 segundos de incremento. Las semifinales se juegan a cuatro partidas.
Domingo 15 de febrero: La final, a cuatro partidas, y los encuentros por posiciones emplean el mismo ritmo de 25 minutos más 10 segundos de incremento. En la final se decide el Campeón Mundial FIDE de Ajedrez Freestyle.
El fondo total de premios asciende a 300.000 dólares, de los cuales 100.000 corresponden al Campeón Mundial FIDE de Ajedrez Freestyle.
