El torneo, que se celebra del 18 al 25 de septiembre, consta de cuatro días de preliminares, en los que los 16 participantes se enfrentan en un cerrado a una vuelta con un control de tiempo de 15 minutos más incrementos de 10 segundos. Los 8 mejores acceden a la fase eliminatoria.
La eliminatoria consta de matches de 4 partidas; un match en los cuartos de final y otro en las semifinales, y dos matches para la final. En caso de empate, se juegan dos partidas de blitz con un control de tiempo de 5+3, seguidas, si es necesario, por una partida de Armagedón, en la que las blancas tienen 5 minutos frente a los 4 de las negras, pero las negras sólo necesitan las tablas para hacerse de la victoria.
