Levon Aronian continuó con la racha victoriosa y se coronó campeón del torneo combinado de ajedrez rápido y relámpago con 3 puntos de ventaja sobre sus más cercanos perseguidores. Sergey Karjakin e Hikaru Nakamura se ubicaron en los puestos 2 y 3 con el marcador igualado. El armenio se lleva el premio en metálico de 37.500 USD y se suma 13 puntos en la clasificación general del circuito, que lo aupan a la 3ª posición, por de trás de Magnus Carlsen y Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. Levon Aronian
Levon Aronian comenzó el día con tranquilidad y firmó unas tablas rápidas con Hikaru Nakamura. A continuación perdió contra David Navara. Eso permitió a Sergey Karjakin recortar la ventaja, pero Aronian resultó tener otro día muy fuerte. Ganó 4 partidas y empató en las 3 restantes. Sus rivales más cercanos no lograron estar a la altura.

Sergey Karjakin
Sergey Karjakin en la primera jornada de ajedrez relámpago anteayer había mostrado una actuación increíble al sumar 8/9 puntos. Ayer no logró repetir la misma hazaña, aunque sí comenzó el día derrotando a Garry Kasparov y a continuación a Leinier Domínguez. Después perdió frente a David Navara y más tarde tabién contra Hikaru Nakamura, con quien compartió el segundo puesto a la postre.

Hikaru Nakamura
Hikaru Nakamura era otro que le pisaba los talones a Aronian, pero no logró mantener el mismo ritmo que el campeón. Tras unas tablas rápidas en el duelo directo entre ambos, Nakamura perdió 3 partidas en las siguientes 4 rondas. Después se recuperó y sumó 3,5/4 puntos, incluyendo un triunfo frente a su compatriota Fabiano Caruana. Pero lo dicho: eso únicamente le bastó para compartir el segundo y tercer puesto con Sergey Karjakin.
Ian Nepomniachtchi
Ian Nepomniachtchi comenzó y terminó en el cuarto puesto de la clasificación. Sus triunfos más notables fueron frente a Domínguez y Caruana, mientras que empató con Kasparov y Karjakin.
Fabiano Caruana, Leinier Dominguez, Quang Liem Le
Fabiano Caruana tuvo un día malo y solo logró sumar 2/9 puntos. Derrotó a Viswanathan Anand y David Navara y perdió las demás partidas. Quedó empatado en el quinto puesto con Leinier Domínguez, quien sumó 4,5/9. Dominguez derrotó a los dos jugadores estadounidenses, Caruana y Nakamura, y también se impuso a Anand. Quang Liem Le tuvo un buen comienzo con victorias frente a Caruana y Nakamura, pero tres tablas durante la mitad de la competición y dos derrotas en las últimas dos rondas no le permitieron subir más en la tabla.
Garry Kasparov
Garry Kasparov perdió la primera partida contra Sergey Karjakin, pero logró sumar 5,5 puntos en las partidas restantes. Derrotó a Domínguez, Nakamura y Caruana y empató con el resto del plantel. Finalmente ocupó el octavo puesto. Lamentablemente comentó que este ha sido su último torneo y que no tiene previsto participar en más desafíos en el futuro.

Viswanathan Anand
El otro jugador leyenda del torneo era Viswanathan Anand. Ocupó el noveno puesto tras únicamente sumar 3,5 puntos a lo largo de la segunda jornada. La única victoria que se apuntó ayer fue contra Ian Nepomniachtchi.
David Navara
David Navara ocupó el último puesto, pero tuvo una gran influencia en la clasificación final por sus victorias sobre Aronian y Karjakin.
