Grand Prix FIDE de Moscú

Si la final del campeonato del mundo FIDE la disputaron dos ucranianos, ahora la final del Grand Prix será otra vez cosa de dos, no sólo de Azerbaiján, sino también de Bakú: Teimur Radjabov y Garry Kasparov. El quinceañero dejó KO a Alexander Beliavsky en la muerte súbita y Kasparov tuvo que recurrir también a las partidas de desempate para eliminar al que fuera campeón del mundo FIDE en Las Vegas, Alexander Khalifman.
