30/12/2002 – Los normandos introdujeron el ajedrez en Hastings: Guillermo el Conquistador una vez rompió un tablero de ajedrez sobre la cabeza de su sobrino Luis el Gordo, al que acusaba de hacer trampas. Afortunadamente tales comportamientos ya no se permiten en Hastings, donde está desarrollándose el 78º Congreso Internacional de Ajedrez, desde el 28 de diciembre, que durará hasta el próximo 5 de enero.
