Inicialmente, Adrian visitó Hamburgo para colaborar con ChessBase, invitado por Frederic Friedel tras un encuentro en Dresde durante un Campeonato de Europa. Otro motivo fue su amigo cercano, Aleksander Bodnar, que se había mudado allí.
