16/06/2002 – Karpov se volvió a llevar el Magistral, tras derrotar en la final a Kosteniuk por 3 a 1. El gélido Tolia no se ablandó ante la belleza de su compatriota ni sucumbió a su juego. Anteriormente, Karpov tuvo que enfrentarse a un fajador Julen Arizmendi en la semifinal. Alexandra Kosteniuk se las vio con Alfonso Romero. Tiene la información y las partidas en la web del torneo.
