Jaan Ehlvest gana el Abierto de Chicago

27/05/2009 – El pasado fin de semana se disputó el Abierto de Chicago 2009, en Wheeling. La competición se dividió en varias categorías de fuerza. El fondo de premios, que totalizaba 100.000 dólares estadounidenses, atrajó a Illinois a muchos jugadores profesionales. El lugar del encuentro fue el hotel Westin Chevy Chase Countryclub, cerca del aeropuerto internacional O'Hare de Chicago. Tras siete rondas, Jaan Ehlvest y Gabriel Sargissian terminaron empatados a 5,5 puntos. Para determinar al vencedor absoluto de la competición y al ganador del premio, los dos jugadores se enfrentaron en un duelo a "muerte súbita", que finalmente fue ganado por Jaan Ehlvest.
