18/07/2006 – El Campeonato de Suecia, que se disputó en Göteborg entre el 1 y el 14 de julio, lo ganó el GM Johan Hellsten (2564), nacido en 1975. Obtuvo un resultado de 10/12 y alcanzó la victoria del torneo con 2 puntos de ventaja frente al segundo clasificado, Emanuel Berg. Jonny Hector ocupó el tercer lugar con 7 puntos. Pia Cramling, la única mujer del campeonato, alcanzó el 4° puesto compartido con Stellan Brynell (6,5/12). Entre otros triunfos, el año pasado Hellsten ganó la Copa Entel de Santiago de Chile.
