Atrajo a muchos jugadores de la elite mundial, como Sergey Karjakin, Alexander Grischuk, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Peter Svidler y Alexander Morozevich. La bolsa de premios era de 25.000 euros. Karjakin-Dlugy: Dlugy optó por la Escandinava con 3...Dd6, contra Karjakin y procuró jugar a mucha velocidad pare compensar su inferioridad en términos de fuerza de juego. No le bastó. Perdió el peón "b" (su plan de jugar Txb2 se ve estropeado por Da3+) y la partida termina con una victoria de Karjakin. 1-0.
Karjakin-Grischuk: Grischuk también probó con la Escandinavacon 3...Dd6 dos rondas más tarde, pero no consiguió nada y acepta las tablas tras un fuerte d5 por parte de las blancas.
