09/09/2010 – Ayer al atardecer se llevó a cabo la "Staunton Memorial Dinner 2010", una cena de gala que debe servir como acto para recaudar fondos para la campaña electoral de Karpov para la Presidencia de la FIDE. Se disputó una partida en consulta entre los grandes maestros Nigel Short y Garry Kasparov. Cada uno de ellos formaba equipo con un asesor aficionado.
