Kitty Joyce Mary Ndagizimana, ajedrecísta
Kitty Ndagizimana es una jugadora de ajedrez de 7 años, que vive en Uganda. La organización Bridge International Academies la está apoyando y promocionando. Se trata de una red de colegios especializados en India, Kenia, Liberia, Nigeria y Uganda. Tres de los alumnos del colegio Nsumbi de Kampala (Uganda) recibieron una beca para participar en el campeonato absoluto y escolar de África en Harare (Zimbabwe).
Kitty y dos otros miembros de la organización "Brigde" recibieron las becas, entregadas por Muhoozi Kainerugaba, hijo y asesor de Yoweri Museveni, presidente de la República de Uganda desde el año 1986.
El portavoz de Muhoozis, Chris Magezi (foto a la derecha) comentó:
“Muhoozi Kainerugaba se enteró del talento de Kitty mediante una campaña para recaudar fondos, realizada en las redes sociales. Decidió apoyar a esta joven estrella para que pueda hacer realidad sus sueños y participar en torneos internacionales de ajedrez. Esos niños va a ser el orgullo de Uganda en Zimbaue”.
En los medios de comunicación de Uganda, Kitty se ha convertido en una estrella por su talento ajedrecístico y todos los oponentes con los que se ha enfrentado en el tablero, se han quedado impresionados con ella.
"Me alegra mucho que pueda participar en el torneo en Zimbaue y que pueda jugar contra niños de toda África. Estoy orgullosa de poder representar a mi colegio y a mi país", comentó Kitty.
Además de Kitty, también participarán los becarios Wasswa Paul Kervin (sub-11) y Muwanguzi Patrick Elijah (sub-9).

Lamentablemente, hubo algunos contratiempos en el viaje de Kitty a Harare y por lo tanto perdió la primera partida por incompareciencia. Tampoco tuvo después las cosas fáciles y únicamente logró sumar medio punto en las siguientes 5 partidas. Todavía falta mucho camino que recorrer hasta que pueda ser la sucesora de Phiona Mutesi, pero comenzar siempre es difícil. ¡El caso es que siga adelante! "De las derrotas es de lo que más se aprende en las partidas de ajedrez", para citar a Leontxo García.
