Después de que Vladimir hubiese naufragado en la apertura tras 1.d4, en la tercera partida optó por 1.e4, algo que no suele jugar a menudo. Levon no se mostró demasiado sorprendido y rápidamente decicidió sacrificar una dama en el movimiento once. Siguió sorprendiendo al público con más ideas tácticas, hasta que surgió una posición en la cual la dama blanca tuvo que verse las caras con tres piezas menores negras; eso sí, contando con el respaldo de dos peones adicionales. Y resultó que eso sirvió de mucho al ruso. Tras haber esquivado todas las trampas tácticas del armenio, Kramnik recuperó la iniciativa. Duelo Kramnik vs. Aronian en Zúrich
Entre el 21 y el 28 de abril, habrá un duelo amistoso, el Zurich Chess Challenge ("Reto de Ajedrez de Zúrich") entre los números dos y tres del mundo, Levon Aronian y Vladimir Kramnik. Mañana se disputará la primera partida, a partir de las 15:00 horas. Se juega con el control de tiempo clásico.
