Los vídeos sofisticados técnica y artísticamente de Schneider, publicados en YouTube, han fascinado tanto a los críticos como al público. Schneider, nacido en Baltimore en 1988. Durante su juventud vivió en un barrio de Filadelfia y acudió al Wissahickon High School. Allí conoció a Sam Tsui con quien más adelante comenzó a hacer música. Tsui cantaba versiones y remezclas de canciones populares y Schneider le acompañaba al piano y filmaba vídeos de sus sesiones. En 2010 Schneider, cuyos abuelos por parte de padre nacieron en Viena y cuya hermana mayor estudió piano clásico, terminó sus estudios en la prestigiosa universidad de Yale con un "magna cum laude" en matemáticas.
Aún más joven, su gran pasión había sido el ajedrez. A los 15 años, Schneider se coronó Campeón de EE. UU. Juvenil y era el mejor jugador del país de esa edad. Durante los años en Yale, Kurt Schneider formó parte del equipo de ajedrez de la universidad y compitió en el campeonato panamericano con su equipo. En el año 2006, Schneider decidió abandonar su carrera como ajedrecísta. Se daba cuenta de que para ser uno de los mejores del mundo, iba a tener que trabajar muy duro, concentrarse exclusivamente en el ajedrez y no quería eso. Comenzó a dedicarse a la música ¡con mucho éxito!
