Es dos semanas más joven que su compañero de club Sergey Karjakin y diez meses más viejo que el niño prodigio noruego Magnus Carlsen. A la edad de 14 años, 7 meses y 12 días, el prodigio ajedrecístico ucranio Yuriy Kuzubov completó su tercera y última norma de GM en un torneo de categoría IX celebrado en Alushta.
