05/01/2011 – Ayer el canal francoalemán de televión cultural "ARTE", en su serie "Una velada con..." emitió la entrega de la visita de Garry Kasparov y Peter Thiel. El que fue campeón del mundo y el inversor (Facebook, PayPal) hablaron de ordenadores, ajedrez y las demás cosas que interesan al mundo mundial. En el Marshall Chess Club neoyorquino se encontraron con Maurice Ashley que contó como había jugado unas simultáneas contra los seguidores de fútbol en el campo de los New York Jets y cuando perdió dos damas las tiró al aire para dejarlas desaparecer en sus bolsillos a continuación. También comentaron la retirada de Magnus Carlsen del actual ciclo por el Campeonato del Mundo. Kasparov dice que él no tiene nada que ver, pero que sí sabe algo de los porqués. Durch die Nacht mit... Garry Kasparov y Peter Thiel
Impresiones de algunos de los momentos culminantes
En el llamado "Robotics Lab" de la "Columbia University" Kasparov y Thiel contemplaron allí las novedosas máquinas que se desarrollan en dicha universidad. Kasparov les comenta a los científicos que el progreso tecnológico ha llegado a un punto muerto, que ahora es más bien horizontal que vertical. "¿Qué pueden hacer los ordenadores que no han podido hacer años atrás (a parte de la velocidad)?", preguntó.
En la limusina, hablando de programas de ajedrez
Garry le cuenta a Peter Thiel que Rybka es "fenomenalmente buena"
Garry dice que el ajedrez ha servido durante siglos como prueba última de la inteligencia humana
"El ajedrez todavía es muy popular. Si cuentas a las personas que juegan en Internet todos
los días son 1,5 millones partidas al día".
Kasparov y Thiel de visita en el histórico Marshall Chess Club, donde el Dr. Frank Brady enseñó a Garry y Peter el tablero en el cual Fischer jugó el famoso duelo
por teletipo en 1965 con La Habana (fíjense como Garry suelta las fechas exactas
y la cita así, tal cual de memoria)
Brady y Thiel (que tiene unos 2300 puntos Elo) jugando una partida amistosa, con Kasparov haciendo de árbitro
