20/01/2003 – La “capital del ajedrez avanzado” este año contará con cuatro estrellas muy jóvenes, todos Grandes Maestros de primera fila, para el XVI Torneo Magistral de Ajedrez Ciudad de León 2003: el campeón del mundo de la FIDE Ruslan Ponomariov (Elo 2734), el búlgaro Vesselin Topalov (Elo 2734, que es el “abuelo” con sus 28 años y que jugó contra Garri Kasparov en la primera edición de este tipo de torneos) Además estará el GM más joven del mundo Sergey Karjakin (Elo 2547) y, último en orden pero no en importancia, Francisco Vallejo Pons (Elo 2629) Así lo informa el diario deportivo español Marca.
