Grand Chess Tour en San Luis: primera jornada de ajedrez relámpago
Los días 13 y 14 de agosto (a partir de las 20:00 CEST), diez jugadores se enfrentarán en la sección de ajedrez relámpago que consta de 18 rondas.

El ganador del Grand Chess Tour Rapid & Blitz en San Luis es Levon Aronian. A vísperas de la última jornada de partidas de ajedrez relámpago, Aronian iba con medio punto de desventa por detrás de Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. A lo largo de la jornada parecía ser una competición particiular entre Vachier-Lagrave, Aronian y Yu Yangiy. Tras una derrota contra Sergey Karjakin, Aronian logró apuntarse victorias tanto contra Shakhriyar Mamedyarov como contra Ding Liren y se adjudicó el torneo.

Levon Aronian ha ganado 37.000 dólares estadounidenses en metálcio al haber ganado el torneo. En la clasificación absoluta del Grand Chess Tour 2019, su victoria en esta competición le ha brindado 13 puntos.
Ding Liren, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave y Yu Yangyi que había sido el jugador de libre designación, se ubicaron en el segundo puesto. Cada uno de ellos recibió 20.000 dólares y 8,33 puntos para la clasificación del Grand Chess Tour 2019.
