El Campeón del Mundo Carlsen jugará en Wijk aan Zee
Aparte de Magnus Carlsen, participarán cuatro jugadores más de la super elite mundial: Fabiano Caruana (el ganador de la edición de 2020 y número dos del mundo), Ian Nepomniachtchi (no. 4 del mundo), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (no. 5 del mundo) y Shakhryar Mamedyarov (no. 8 del mundo).
Por supuesto, también volverá a participar el mejor jugador de Holana, Anish Giri (no. 11 del mundo).
El supertalento de irán, Alireza Firouzja (no. 18 del mundo), también volverá a participar en el "Wimbledon del Ajedrez".
El lugar del encuentro del torneo Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2021 será el polideportivo De Moriaan en Wijk aan Zee. El torneo se disputará entre el 15 y el 31 de enero de 2021.
