En su 53ª edición, este evento tradicional y prestigioso ha comenzado con un total de 278 jugadores, lo que augura una semana repleta de emocionantes partidas. Con el torneo ya en curso, la expectativa de los espectadores es grande, con la participación de diversas figuras destacadas tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. El Gran Maestro Johan-Sebastian Christiansen, de Noruega, con un ELO de 2633, es el gran favorito para alzarse con el título, seguido de cerca por los Grandes Maestros argentinos Rubén Felgaer y Diego Flores, quienes prometen ofrecer una competencia feroz.
Además, la presencia de otros destacados Grandes Maestros como Diego Valerga, Leonardo Tristán, Sergio Slipak, y el ruso Vitali Kiselev, así como las destacadas jugadoras como la WGM Claudia Amura y la WIM María Jose Campos, añaden aún más prestigio al torneo.
El certamen repartirá $ 2.000.000 en premios, y se han agregado otros $ 500.000 a los torneos Blitz y Rapid que se llevarán a cabo por las noches. Organizado por la Federación Marplatense de Ajedrez y su presidente Javier Curilen, el evento forma parte del importante OPEN CHESS TOUR, que reúne a los torneos de ajedrez abiertos más destacados del país.
El arbitraje está a cargo del AI OI Leandro Plotinsky, y las primeras 10 partidas de cada ronda pueden seguirse en vivo a través de las principales plataformas de ajedrez.
Todo está listo ahora nos espera una semana "feliz" con ajedrez de alto nivel en una de las ciudades más hermosas de Argentina.
