16/05/2005 – Hoy las cosas han sido diferentes en Sofia. Se han decidido dos de las tres partidas y ninguno de los jugadores ha optado por salir con la jugada 1.e4 como había sucedido en todas las partidas jugadas hasta el momento. Anand se impuso a Adams en un sistema erizo. Ponomariov consiguió imponerse al búlgaro Veselin Topalov en un esquema típico de la Apertura Catalana y Kramnik ganó su segunda partida contra la húngara Judit Polgar en una clásica variante Capablanca en la Defensa Nimzoindia . Como resultado se estrecha la clasificación : 1-2 Adams y Kramnik (3) 3-4 Anand y Ponomariov (2.5) y cierran Topalov y Polgar (2). Reportaje Relámpago
