Mundial ¿2005? ¿Vietnam?

06/02/2004 – De acuerdo con Chess Today, el presidente de la FIDE Kirsan Illyuminov, en una entrevista concedida a Interfax el 30 de enero, con ocasión de se visita a ese país del sureste asiático, recibió una oferta en este sentido. El máximo mandatario de la FIDE incluso cifra en el 99,9% la probabilidad de que así sea. Con respecto al Mundial de 2004, se ha rumoreado que podría tener lugar en Trípoli, hacia abril o mayo de este año, pero en la página de la FIDE no hay información al respecto.
