19/06/2004 – Tras la ceremonia inaugural de ayer, hoy han entrado en competición los 128 jugadores elegidos para disputar el título mundial según el sistema de la FIDE, por eliminatorias, que se celebrarán en Trípoli. Las rondas dan comienzo a las 14:30 CET (= GMT + 2) En los encuentros de ida de la primera eliminatoria no ha habido grandes sorpresas en los resultados.
