07/07/2004 – La final del Campeonato Mundial FIDE ha comenzado con unas tablas, tras 18 jugadas en 100 minutos de juego. El inglés Michael Adams (32 años, 2731 Elo) decidió comprobar la preparación de su oponente en una Paulsen. Kasimdzhanov (Uzbekistán, 24 años, 2652 Elo) no tuvo demasiados problemas para igualar y se firmó el reparto de puntos.  Recordemos que, además del título, la final decidirá quien se lleva 100.000 dólares y quien 70.000.
