El tres veces campeón de EE.UU. y número siete mundial no sufrió ni una sola derrota. Del 22 al 29 de julio en Biel (Suiza)
Los organizadores del XLV Festival Internacional de Ajedrez de Biel se pueden alegrar: Magnus Carlsen, el número uno del mundo y dos veces campeón de Biel (en 2007 y 2011) nuevamente participará en el torneo de verano en Suiza. Magnus sustituirá a Leinier Domínguez. El noruego también participará en el torneo de
ajedrez relámpago el sábado, 22 de julio. A partir del 23 de julio jugará en el torneo principal donde procurará defender el título. Es la primera vez en la historia del torneo que se alcanza la categoría
XXI (con un Elo promedio de 2756 puntos). Es el torneo más fuerte jamás disputado en Biel y en Suiza en general. Participan tres jugadores
entre los 10 mejores del mundo: Magnus Carlsen (nº 1, Noruega), Hikaru Nakamura
(nº 7, EE.UU.) y Alexander Morozevich (nº 9, Rusia) Con el chino Wang Hao, son 4
entre los 15 primeros. El francés Etienne Bacrot y el holandés Anish Giri completan el plantel.
