Entre el 8 y el 19/20 de mayo, se celebró el Campeonato de EE.UU. en las competiciones absoluta y femenina. Los 12 mejores jugadores de los Estados Unidos de América se enfrentaron en un torneo por sistema de liga (11 rondas). El vigente campeón Gata Kamsky
intentó defender su título, pero lo perdió a favor de Hikaru Nakamura.

todo o nada para determinar la campeona.
