En la novena ronda, Ganguly y Van Wely perdieron sus respectivas partidas contra Jobava y Mchedlishvili. El GM chino Ni Hua derrotó a Yuriy Kuzubov, de Ucrania y al final quedaron 5 jugadores con 7/9 puntos empatados en el primer lugar. Ni Hua tenía la mejor valoración de desempate y mostró un rendimiento de 2770. En comparación, su
colíder Jobava mostraba un rendimiento de 2766, y Mchedlishvili una fuerza de juego de 2731 puntos, Chanda 2727 y Miezis 2709.
