VII Copa del Alcalde de Bombai

El trofeo y un buen dinerillo como premio en metálico para el ganador ($5.000)

El torneo A fue muy fuerte, con 18 grandes maestros y un Elo medio de 2177 puntos, con 170 participantes, provenientes de 17 países, entre ellos Rusia, EE.UU., Armenia y Georgia. El principal favorito era el georgiano Mikheil Mchedlishvili.
