Campeonato de Gran Bretaña 2015
Hasta el año 2003, jugadores de cualquier país miembro de la Commonwealth podía participar en el Campeonato de Gran Bretaña. Pero después de que los grandes maestros indios R. B. Ramesh (2002) y Abhijit Kunte (2003) hubiesen ganado el torneo, los organizadores llegaron a la conclusión de que un torneo tan abierto no podría considerarse un auténtico "Campeonato de Gran Bretaña". Por eso, desde el año 2004 únicamente pueden participar jugadores británicos e irlandeses.

El torneo se disputa por sistema suizo a 11 rondas. Participan 75 jugadores, entre ellos 11 grandes maestros y 3 maestros internacionales. Varios torneos juveniles y abiertos completan el programa del Festival del Campeonato de Gran Bretaña de este año.

El favorito según su valoración Elo este año es el defensor del título, David Howell, quien hace poco ha superado la barrera de los 2700 puntos Elo y actualmente figura en el puesto número 33 del escalafón mundial. Le gustaría coronarse Campeón de Gran Bretaña por tercera vez consecutiva.
