La Pirc Moderna en realidad es una mezcla de la Caro-Kann y la Pirc. En muchas líneas las negras combinas las ideas de la Pirc clásica en la que es importante el alfil fianchetado con la idea de la Caro-Kann de luchar por el centro con c6-d5.
