tampoco son jugadores corrientes. Algorithms es un documental del
floreciente pero poco conocido mundo del ajedrez para ciegos en India. Filmado
durante tres años, sigue a los chicos y un jugador completamente ciego se
convierte en pionero al competir en los campeonatos nacionales y mundiales y los
visita en su entorno hogareño, donde revelan sus luchas, ansiedades y
esperanzas.

Yendo más allá de la vista y la historia, este documento que observa el
deporte con una diferencia se mueve a través de los algoritmos del ajedrez para
ciegos retando a los que tiene vista sobre lo que significa ver.
Permite el viaje táctil y reflexivo que explora la previsión, la vista y la
visión para continuar mucho tiempo después de que la imagen en movimiento

Sinopsis
Se filmó a lo largo de tres años, desde justo antes del campeonato mundial
juvenil de ajedrez para ciegos de 2009 en Suecia hasta justo después del
siguiente campeonato, en 2011, en Grecia. Sigue a tres chicos con talento de
distintas partes de India y a un jugador completamente ciego que se convirtió en
pionero no solo por situar a India en el escenario mundial, sino que también
quiere que los niños ciegos jueguen al ajedrez.
Director Ian McDonald
Ian McDonald es sociólogo del deporte y director de documentales. Al haber
usado siempre la cámara para apoyar su investigación sobre el deporte y la
educación física en Reino Unido e India, el paso de Ian a la elaboración de
documentales se beneficia de una forma de ver las cosas aparentemente sin
esfuerzo que ha dado como resultado documentales diferenciados sobre arte y
deporte, especialmente sobre los "intrusos" del deporte, los que son vistos como
"diferentes" por la sociedad "normal". Sus documentales han sido proyectados en
festivales de cine, conferencias y mítines de campaña a lo largo de todo el
mundo. Ian está radicado en la Universidad de of
Brighton, en el Reino Unido.
