El más esperado choque en el tablero uno entre Carlsen y Giri terminó en tablas tras una dura lucha en la Siciliana Najdorf. Qatar estaá en la región del desierto de Arabia. El país tiene cinco días de lluvia al año de media. Eso parece que amilanó a algunos, que prefirieron quedarse en la habitación del hotel, en vez de participar en la excursión prevista por los organizaodres a los establos Al-Shaqab.
