El torneo se disputa en Reggio Emilia (Italia) y transcurre entre el 27 de diciembre de 2011 y el 6 de enero de 2012. Se trata de un cerrado entre 6 jugadores por el sistema de liga a dos vueltas (10 rondas) El ritmo de juego es de 50 movimientos en 100 minutos más un incremento de 30 segundos por jugada. El 1 de enero es día de descanso. Las partidas comienzan a las 15:00 CET.
