African Chess Lounge
El fin de semana pasado se celebró el reto de "Ajedrez para todos" en la Universidad Tecnológica de Ciudad del Cabo. Los premios y tasas de inscripción fueron pagados por Four Corners y la Kasparov Chess Foundation Africa.
El torneo fue ganado por el actual campeón de Sudáfrica, Donovan van den Heever. Subcampeón quedó Watu Kobese y el tercer puesto fue para Daudi Amini

La Academia Chrystalis de rehabilitación ha incluido el ajedrez como parte del programa teraupéutico. Reuben Salimu ha patrocinado dos sesiones de tres meses pero no pudo seguir porque le costaba unas 10.000 rupias por trimestre. "El impacto fue mangífico y siempre esperamos que algún patrocinador se fijase en el valor que tiene", comenta Reuben, "pero hasta ahora eso no ha ocurrido".

¿Y qué tenemos aquí? Es un estudiante de la ACL trabajando con el programa de ajedrez Fritz, de ChessBase. El niño solo tiene cinco años pero triunfó en el campeonato de su categoría de edad con 5/6 puntos. (Fue su segundo torneo.)
