08/09/2012 – En la décima y penúltima ronda de la Olimpiada de Ajedrez de Estambul todavía no se sabe quienes se coronarán campeones. En la prueba abierta, China venció a EE.UU. y se ha colocado en la primera posición, con Rusia y Armenia, todos con 17 puntos. En la competición femenina las chinas no pasaron del empate contra Kazajistán. Por lo tanto, ahora China y Rusia comparten la primera posición. En otro orden de cosas, ya ha dado comienzo el Congreso de la FIDE. Hoy sábado es día de descanso y la última ronda se disputará el domingo, a partir de las 10:00 CEST. Olimpiada de Ajedrez de Estambul 2012
La XL Olimpiada de Ajedrez se celebrará entre el 27 de agosto y el 10 de septiembre de 2012 en Estambul (Turquía). Las olimpiadas de ajedrez se suelen llevar a cabo cada dos años, con equipos de todo el globo que compiten entre si. Están organizadas por la FIDE, que elige al país anfitrión. La última olimpiada tuvo lugar en Khanty-Mansiysk (Rusia) en 2010 y la siguiente será en Tromsø (Noruega) en 2014. La primera olimpiada de la historia se celebró en París en 1924 y contó con la participación de 16 países. La última olimpiada dio la bienvenida a 143 naciones, 1294 competidores (254 GM, 65 WGM, 159 MI y 90 MIF). Para la edición de este año, los organizadores se esperan incluso más.
