27/04/2023 – El que había sido el líder en solitario, Arjun Erigaisi, flaqueó en la segunda jornada del torneo de ajedrez relámpago en Satty Zhuldyz, en Kazajstán. Tal y como ya habíamos informado, el único bicampeón de la Copa del Mundo de la FIDE de la historia, Levon Aronian, aprovechó la oportunidad y ganó el torneo a falta de una ronda. Arjun terminó segundo con 21½/33 puntos y Haik Martirosyan tercero con 21/33. Martirosyan beats Aronian and tops the blitz
Dicen que lo siguiente mejor a ganar el torneo es vencer al campeón del mismo. Arjun no pudo hacerlo, Martirosyan sí. De hecho, el número dos de Armenia fue el único jugador que permaneció invicto contra Aronian tanto en las pruebas rápidas como en las de blitz. Aronian consiguió vencer a los diez jugadores restantes al menos una vez.

Aronian ganó el torneo a falta de una ronda. Por lo tanto, la partida de la última ronda contra Martirosyan no tuvo ningún impacto en su resultado global. Martirosyan, sorprendentemente, nunca ha perdido contra Aronian en partidas puntuables.
