Murzin derrota a Aravindh

Los dos jugadores que sufrieron derrotas dolorosas en los primeros tableros en la séptima ronda del Sharjah Masters no lograron recuperar su forma anterior y volvieron a perder el martes en la octava ronda. El ex líder único Aravindh Chithambaram perdió ante Volodar Murzin, mientras que Hans Niemann fue derrotado por Vokhidov Shamsiddin. Aravindh y Niemann están fuera de la lucha por la victoria en el torneo.
La victoria de Murzin le permitió unirse al mando de los colíderesm Sam Shankland y Bardiya Daneshvar, quienes firmaron tablas en 9 movimientos en la octava ronda. Murzin y Daneshvar ambos tienen 17 años, mientras que el experimentado Shankland tiene 32 años; el gran maestro californiano sabe muy bien cómo hay que actuar bajo presión, ya que ganó el Campeonato de EE. UU. de 2018 gracias a una victoria en la ronda final sobre Awonder Liang. Shankland jugará con blancas contra Murzin el martes, mientras que Daneshvar jugará con negras contra el máximo favorito Arjun Erigaisi.
