Shirov se suma a los ilustres de Frederikstad
La Asociación de Ajedrez de Fredrikstad (Schakselskap) fue fundada en 1903 y sigue con el mismo nombre. Bueno, casi: ahora los nombres de las ciudades ya se escriben con una sola "s" y ajedrez ya no se escribe con doble "k" (sjakk) sino "schak".
El jueves pasado, Alexei Shirov se incorporó a la tradición de grandes maestros que dan exhibiciones de simultáneas en Fredrikstad. Aprovechando la publicación de su DVD "How to crack the Berlin Wall with 5.Re1" Alexei mostró cuatro de las victorias que había obtenido con ella y explicó las ideas en los finales de la defensa Berlinesa.

A continuación, Shirov dio una exhibición de partidas simultáneas con reloj. No se lo pusieron fácil: tenía tan solo 3 segundos más por movimiento que sus rivales (45 minutos más 3 segundos por movimiento). Se habían inscrito 25 jugadores y Alexei Shirov tampoco puso objeciones cuando al final incluso se incorporaron 6 más.

Tras la primera tanda quedó claro que el plazo de reflexión que le habían concedido a Shirov era muy escazo. Únicamente por su físico y con un esfuerzo francamente atlético, Shirov logró ganar las simultáneas de manera clara. Se apuntó 22 victorias, empató en 4 partidas y perdió 5 partidas por tiempo, en muchos casos con posición ganadora para él.

Fue una tarde fantástica con un gran maestro muy simpático que nos contagió con su entusiasmo. Me haría ilusión si la tradición de las partidas simultáneas a cargo de un gran maestro también pudiera organizarse en 2018.
