Como el único destino que ha formado parte de todas las ediciones del Grand Chess Tour desde sus inicios en 2015, la Sinquefield Cup sigue siendo un elemento esencial del circuito. Este año se celebrará en la University Club Tower de Saint Louis del 18 al 27 de agosto, con un día de descanso previsto para el sábado 23 de agosto.
Es un torneo entre diez jugadores con control de tiempo clásico. Los competidores dispondrán de 90 minutos para las primeras 40 jugadas, tras lo cual recibirán 30 minutos adicionales, con un incremento de 30 segundos desde la primera jugada.
Como última etapa del Grand Chess Tour 2025 antes de la final en São Paulo, la Sinquefield Cup tiene una importancia considerable. Los puntos del tour se otorgan en función de la clasificación en el torneo, y los cuatro mejores jugadores de la tabla de posiciones combinada obtienen una plaza en la final del GCT, prevista para finales de septiembre. Es la primera vez desde 2019 que el tour cuenta con un evento final de esta naturaleza.
