Blitz: Rondas 10 a 18
El Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz, la cuarta etapa del Grand Chess Tour 2026, se está jugando en el reconocido Saint Louis Chess Club del 2 al 6 de agosto.
El torneo utiliza el conocido formato de rápidas y blitz. Comienza con un todos contra todos a una vuelta de 10 jugadores en ajedrez rápido, con nueve rondas disputadas a un ritmo de 25 minutos más 10 segundos de incremento desde la primera jugada. Las partidas rápidas valen doble: una victoria otorga 2 puntos, unas tablas 1 punto y una derrota 0 puntos.
La sección de blitz consiste en un todos contra todos a doble vuelta, con 18 rondas repartidas en dos ciclos. El ritmo de juego es de 5 minutos más 2 segundos de incremento desde la primera jugada. En la sección de blitz, una victoria vale 1 punto y unas tablas ½ punto. El jugador con la mayor puntuación combinada de rápidas y blitz ganará el torneo.
2-4 de agosto: Rápidas
5-6 de agosto: Blitz

01/08/2026 – Estados Unidos derrotó a Uzbekistán por 14–10 en el evento WR Chess Rapid & Blitz de Miami. Los estadounidenses se aseguraron la victoria del match con una ronda de anticipación. Los ganadores del match ampliaron la ventaja de 5–3 que obtuvieron en la sección de rápidas al imponerse también en la fase de blitz por 9–7. King’s Indian fans who choose the Mar del Plata attack (7...Nc6) against White’s classical system (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Nf3 0-0 6.Be2 e5 7.0-0) usually aim for a complex position with mutual attacks on open wings, requiring long-term strategic planning and tactical sharpness in critical moments. Computers often do not know how to handle the arising complex strategic positions, which suits players who like to think on their own instead of memorizing long variations. However, the fashionable Bayonet Attack (9.b4) interferes with Black’s ideas. After Black’s main move 9...Nh5 the positions opens, the lines get forced and computer analysis is important again. But this DVD offers an antidote against White’s Bayonet Attack, namely 9...a5! This move leads to sound positions with very few concrete lines, in which the focus is on strategy not on tactics. Objectively chances are equal but if Black knows what to do things might quickly become dangerous for White.
