El LXXIII Torneo Tata Steel se celebra entre el 14 y el 30 de enero de 2011, en Wijk aan Zee (Holanda)
La partida entre Hikaru Nakamura y Vladimir Kramnik fue relativamente tranquila. Kramnik repitió la variante que también había jugado contra Smeets en la décima ronda y que había terminado en tablas rápidamente. Nakamura no
hizo ningún esfuerzo especial para evitar las tablas y después de 20 movimientos firmaron las paces.
Ayer, en su victoria ante Kramnik, Magnus Carlsen había demostrado una excelente técnica de finales; hoy brilló contra Wang Hao con sus conocimientos tácticos. El sacrificio de una pieza en el movimiento 24, le brindó un ataque exitoso.
La capacidad de Vishy Anand de defenderse es legendaria y también hoy le sirvió perfectamente en su partida contra Anish Giri. El Campeón del Mundo estaba con la espalda contra la pared
ante el joven gran maestro, pero al entrar en el final de torres pudo salvar el cuello tras una inexactitud de Giri y logró mantener las tablas. De esta manera tiene solo medio punto de desventaja
con respecto a Nakamura y todavía tiene buenas posibilidades de alzarse con la victoria del torneo.
